Night of the Galleries and Museums

Art and culture - until midnight

A night at the Museum - if that is something you've always wanted to experience, there is only one date you should keep in mind: Friday, 20th of May. After a two-year break due to the pandemic, there will finally be a Night of the Galleries and Museums in Wetzlar again from 6 p.m. to midnight - and Leica World is part of it.

On this day, Leica World will open both the Ernst Leitz Museum and the Leica Galerie Wetzlar. The interactive museum is perfect for a visit with the whole family. Here, visitors of all ages can experience photography, learn about the Leica corporate history and explore various design elements like wind, light and movement. In addition, you can visit our most recent exhibition "Thomas Hoepker - Image Maker", an extensive retrospective of the German Magnum photographer with iconic photographs from seven decades. At the same time, works by the renowned German photographer Nomi Baumgartl will be on display at our Leica Gallery. Her exhibition "Landscapes of Soul. Human and Nature in Focus." portrays the unique relationship between humans and animals.

Admission to the Ernst Leitz Museum (and other participating museums) is free on this evening. Leica Welt in Leitz Park will also be accessible by a free shuttle bus for the Night of Galleries and Museums.

On the terrace of the hotel restaurant you can end your evening full of art and culture with a cocktail! We look forward to seeing you!

The Night of Galleries and Museums is a cultural highlight in Wetzlar. At 6 pm, Jörg Kratkey, the head of the Department of Culture, will open the event at the Stadtgalerie (Kulturhaus). Further events and the whole programme can be found in the official brochure of the city of Wetzlar.
